Pleinvrees Festival

Once started in 2010 as a simple Queensday event in Amsterdam, for at least 23 friends, has gotten slightly out of hand over the past years. Driven by the passion for melodic house music - inspired by all types of music genres – the people behind Pleinvrees continued organizing events in Amsterdam and other cities in The Netherlands. With Pleinvrees Festival their childhood dream came true!

The musical direction of Pleinvrees could be placed under contemporary house music with a warm and melodic sound. The line-up of Pleinvrees Festival is based on this direction and offers an interesting mix between known and unknown artists!

Het Twiske

Pleinvrees Festival 2017 will be held at nature preserve Het Twiske, just above Amsterdam. Inhabiting one of the most beautiful natural areas of the country for a day, stellar production values are key. With decoration made from recycled materials and a focus on creating the best atmosphere, all produced by a team that has done this for years. Combined with a solid green vision, which has made Welcome to the Future Festival one of the 10 greenest festivals in the world, everything is in place for one of the best days of the year. Of course the food will be 100% organic, free water bars will be present, a full recycling program will be in place and there is a bicycle route from Amsterdam (7000 visitors come by bike!).

How to get there

By bike Het Twiske is located just 9 km North of Amsterdam, and coming by bike will take you 30 to maximum 40 minutes. Take the ferry towards ‘Buiksloterweg’ just behind Amsterdam Central Station. Once across the water, the route to the festival will be marked with signs. By public transport/shuttle bus There will be a shuttle bus service from Amsterdam Sloterdijk station to the festival premises and back all day (leaving from the Orly square on the left side of the station). A ticket for the shuttle bus service costs €8, this ticket will take you back and forth. You can buy the ticket on our website (until Friday) or at the event day itself at the bus station at Amsterdam Sloterdijk. The first bus leaves Sloterdijk station at 11:30 AM, the last one will leave the festival premises at 01:00 AM. By car The easiest way to get to Het Twiske is via the “Ring West” highway A10 towards Haarlem/Zaanstad. After the Coentunnel, keep left and follow the signs for E22/A8 in direction Zaanstad / Purmerend / Leeuwarden. Take the first exit: 1. Oostzaan / Zaandam-zuid / Het Twiske. Keep left and always follow the sings in direction ‘Het Twiske’. Parking Parking tickets are available to add for €19 (until Friday before the event) or at the parking itself on July 23rd for €20. Want to use your GPS? Enter: Pikpotweg, 1511 Oostzaan as destination.

City Info

Home to more than 300 festivals and a countless number of music events which span all tastes and genres, Amsterdam has found its way to the top of the list as a world-class party destination. With a population of just under a million, it may come as a surprise that such a small city has so much to offer. Nonetheless, Amsterdam has undoubtedly imposed itself as one of the hottest european capitals of electronic music, alongside Berlin and London, mainly thanks to its late legendary club Trouw, but also for its hosting of the internationally renowned ADE (Amsterdam Dance Event) which welcomes every year an endless stream of the biggest DJs in the world, spanning the entire spectrum of electronic sub-genres. But don’t get us wrong, the capital of the Netherlands is not only about clubbing and holds many surprises. That’s right, ladies and gents, whether you are an insomniac EDM fanatic longing to trip the night away to hypnotic and cutting-edge beats, a leather-clad guitar-loving buff craving to headbang to the most edgy indie-rock riffs, or a nostalgic hippie-chic fellow in search of a one-in-a-lifetime musical journey, you can rest assured that Amsterdam has what it takes to suit even the most unconventional booty shakers!
