Fresh Island 2017
Every year the crème de la crème of hip-hop, R&B, rap, crunk and grime land on Croatia’s Pag Island to seduce the crowds at the Fresh Island festival. It’s the only European festival of its kind that’s held on a beach, and sunshine is 100% guaranteed - the perfect place to go if you’re looking for Wireless without the rain.
Action Bronson, Pusha-T, Joey Bada$$, Cut Killer, Stormzy, Nas, Iggy Azalea, A$ap Rocky, Method Man & Redman, and even Snoop Dogg are among the past heavyweights who have contributed to Fresh Island’s success. With all this going for it, it’s no wonder it was voted the top European hip-hop and urban festival in 2015.
The festival is based on Zrce Beach, Pag’s biggest stretch of seashore, where hedonistic fever reigns all summer long on. Bordered by palm trees and clear turquoise waters, it is the ultimate place to let loose and shake your booty for three days.
If you want a change from jukin on the beach you can take the party onto a boat or into the pool – or simply find a spot to chill out in while you gaze out at the ocean. So grab your best pair of J’s, gather up your squad, and get fly on the hottest beach in Europe this summer!

Novalja, Pag Island
Novalja is part of the Croatian Pag Island, which is ideally situated in the Adriatic Sea. Over the years, its Zrće Beach has permitted to the city to be internationally recognized by being one of the best European summer party spots : during the summer Novalja hosts a variety of entertainment and cultural events.
Unspoilt landscapes, pebbled beaches with a crystal clear sea, premium nightlife, strong cultural and historical history, have made the actual reputation of Novalja. If you like to explore the surroundings of the city, you’ll be able to observ some archaeological discovers like Christian basilicas from the 4th and 5th centuries.
Novalja is a real tourist destination especially in the summer, that is why you will find plenty of terraces of various cafes and restaurants, which create a relaxing atmosphere. In these ones, you can taste tranditional and unique Croatian food, like the Pag lamb, cheese, Kvarner Bay shrimp or asparagus. Moreover, you have the opportunity to visit the Boškinac winery to enjoy local products.
How to get there
From Zadar airport, you can expect to reach Novalja within 2 hours.
First you will need to take a bus from the airport to downtown Zadar, operated by Liburnija Zadar. The bus stop is located next to the main building exit. For only 25 HRK (3,5€/2,5£), this bus will take you to Zadar old town bus terminal in about 20 minutes. Please check the airport website for a detailed overview of the schedule.
From there, a coach operated by Antonio Tours will take you to Novalja in 1h30 for 79 HRK (11€/ 8£).
There are 7 departures per day, from 8am to 8pm.
We recommend that you book this leg ahead of time as it is highly likely that many other festival-goers will take the same route. You can consult the timetable and book your bus journey online via GetByBus.
Zrce Beach is one of Croatia’s most spectacular beaches. Despite the number of people who flock there throughout the summer, it has a blue flag, which basically means it’s clean, safe, and has toilets.
Zrce has all the ingredients for an unforgettable experience, and is lined with open-air clubs with evocative names such as Aquarius, Papaya, Noa, Kalypso and Euphoria (most of which host Fresh Island Festival events) that pump out the beats all night and day. If you need a break from the decibel levels, parascending, water slides and other watersports will also provide plenty of thrills. All in all, there’s no chance of getting bored here – unless it’s knitting needles you’re after.
Zrce beach is located 3km away from downtown Novalja. During summer, shuttles to and from Zrce Beach run 24/7. One way fare is approximately 15 HRK (2€/1,5£). For more information about public transportation in Novalja, please check the city’s official website.
- Minimum age: you must be at least 18 to attend the event!
- Location: the different concerts will be held across 4 stages at clubs Aquarius and Papaya
